Jennifer thinks she and Max are the perfect couple...right up until he tells her they'd be better off as "just friends." Jennifer's sure there must be some mistake--everyone knows that soul mates don't break up, they live happily ever after. How is she supposed to face the rest of her life (starting with school on Monday) if she's not Max Brown's girlfriend anymore?
As if to add to Jennifer's misery, her grandmother gives her a copy of The Breakup Bible, in which Dr. Emory Emerson promises every dumpee who follows her ten commandments that it's "just a few steps from heartbreak to happiness." Jen is mortified by her grandmother's gift and highly doubtful about any advice Dr. Emerson can offer her. She doesn't really want to recover, she wants to reconcile!
Or does she? |
